5G Network on Cards. Cheap Or Expensive?; Know Plans

Bharti Airtel has announced that it will not launch its 5G services in 22 circles across India by the end of August. They also announced that they have already signed necessary agreements with Ericsson, Nokia and Samsung for networking and cellular hardware, which will facilitate them to launch their 5G services.

Akash Ambani-led Reliance Jio Infocomm has also issued a statement after the 5G mega auction saying that the speed, scale and social impact of Jio’s 4G rollout is unmatched anywhere in the world. Jio will be the only operator with its unmatched 700 MHz spectrum footprint to provide pan-India true 5G services with fast speeds, low latency and massive connectivity, Jio said in the statement. Jio has achieved a unique combination of low-band, mid-band and mmWave. The spectrum, which combined with our deep fiber network and indigenous technology platforms, will enable us to deliver 5G everywhere and 5G for all consumers and enterprises, the company said.

Bharti Airtel, on the other hand, bought airwaves in the 3300 MHz, 2100 MHz, 1800 MHz, 900 MHz and 26 GHz bands worth about 19.867GHz. In which about Rs 43,084 crore was spent. Giving information, the company said that we are happy to announce that Airtel will launch 5G services in August. Our network agreements have been finalized and Airtel will work with the best technology partners around the world to deliver the full benefits of 5G connectivity to our customers. Airtel MD and CEO Gopal Vittal gave this information.

Speculation suggests that Reliance Jio may launch its 5G services in a limited number of circles from August 15. However, there is no official word from the telecom giant regarding their targeted launch event. Bharti Airtel is also silent about the launch date of its 5G services. It is only saying that it will start its services in 22 circles by the end of August. Speculations suggest that Airtel’s basic 5G plans will start at around Rs 500 per month for prepaid customers.
